Washington, DC – Virginia LULAC proudly recognizes Carla Bustillos, co-founder of the Venezuelan American Caucus and a dedicated Virginia LULAC member, for her outstanding leadership in advocating for the Venezuelan community and Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Last Friday, Bustillos held a press briefing at the Simon Bolívar Statue in Washington, DC, calling for stronger protections and support for Venezuelan immigrants who were promised security under TPS.

Her efforts exemplify community servant leadership, ensuring that all Latinos are represented and have a voice in policy discussions. Through her advocacy, she continues to push for meaningful action to uphold the rights of Venezuelan immigrants and the broader Latino community.
Carla Bustillos is a dedicated community advocate and leader. She serves as the State Chair of the Democratic Latino Organization of Virginia, where she works to ensure Latino representation within the Virginia Democratic Party. Also, as a co-founder of Juntos por Virginia, she advocates for greater Latino political representation by supporting and endorsing Latino candidates running for elections, helping them achieve higher positions in elected office.
The Venezuelan American Caucus, which Bustillos co-founded, is a grassroots organization committed to empowering Venezuelan-Americans by fostering civic engagement and ensuring their voices are heard in the development and implementation of U.S. domestic and foreign policy. Their mission aligns with Virginia LULAC’s ongoing commitment to advocacy, policy engagement, and immigrant rights.
Virginia LULAC applauds Carla Bustillos for her unwavering dedication and calls on leaders and community members to continue advocating for just and inclusive immigration policies.
