Richmond, VA – Virginia LULAC, in partnership with a coalition of advocacy organizations, successfully opposed Virginia House Bill HB2724, securing a critical reconsideration of the bill.
Virginia LULAC joined forces with the Virginia Coalition for Immigrant Rights (VACIR) to push back against the bill in its original form and advocate for necessary amendments. Through persistent activism, advocacy, and engagement with lawmakers, the coalition was able to return the bill for reconsideration—an important step in ensuring policies that better serve Virginia’s diverse communities.
This is a significant moment for our coalition and for Latino representation in Virginia While this victory is just the beginning, it underscores the power of community advocacy and the importance of having Latino voices at the table.
